Healthcare

As with most villages in Nigeria, access to healthcare is poor for a variety of reasons

  • Poor infrastructure
  • Lack of trained healthcare personnel
  • Limited access to funds for health treatments

Prior to the establishment of VEN Foundation in Achalla, indigenes had low access to healthcare because of distance and cost. In order to protect the health and lives of members of the community, VEN Clinic was started. VEN Clinic offers a free consultation and medicine dispensing service for the benefit of  Achalla indigenes. This current programme aims to improve not just the health of Achalla indigenes but members of surrounding villages who also experience similar problems.

In order to expand operations in the community, VEN Foundation is currently setting up a hospital. This project is expected to be concluded in December 2021 and operations are expected to be permanently moved from the clinic to the hospital in June 2022.

VEN foundation also runs a healthcare grant which covers treatment not offered by the clinic on a case by case basis such as surgeries and consultations for special conditions.
